Linda8894: Hi, I can't stay long, but what is the topic for tonight?
AMYL2: Hi Mike, Hi Greg
Skate Doc: Boots & Blades - I am the guest host
DreamSkate: Hello.
Guppie94: hi
LeighLewis: Hi all.
Linda8894: Hi Mike, I finaly got my Harlick's but my right boot is still too
big.
Greg R TMH: Hi Amy good to hear from you
Ronabir: Hi. I'm new. Boots and Blades?
Guppie94: i'm also new
AMYL2: Hi Mike, Hi Greg
Skate Doc: Marge is going to moderate
DreamSkate: How is this session set up? Do we just ask a question?
Faxel 1: Welcome aboard everyone.
DreamSkate: Oh :)
Linda8894: Hi Marge!
DreamSkate: Hi Marge!!!! :)
MargeR1: we follow the following procedure Submit a ? to ask a question and
we will call on you to
Ronabir: Hi Marge
MargeR1: ask your question... it will keep Mike from being overwhelmed with
too many questions at a
MargeR1: time
DreamSkate: Got it! :)
DreamSkate: ?
MargeR1: go ahead dreamskate
DreamSkate: I guess I'll "break the ice" and try this first.
Linda8894: ?
Linda8894: ?
DreamSkate: I am going to begin to learn to skate, and I am wondering what
skates are going to be best
DreamSkate: to start with.
Linda8894: ?
DreamSkate: I am going to begin to learn to skate, and I am wondering what
skates are going to be best
DreamSkate: to start with.
DreamSkate: Is there a recommendation?
Skate Doc: I would probably look at a Reidell 320 or SilverStar boot as a
starting point with a
Skate Doc: SingleStar blade.
DreamSkate: Thank you, Mike. ;)
MargeR1: Linda, go ahead
Linda8894: I have already been to Harlick in person for adjustment and they
were great in not marring t
Linda8894: autograph and tightening the heel, but I am still having rpoblems
with the boot being too
Linda8894: loose and the tongue twisting, only on the right boot? Any
suggestions?
DreamSkate: ?
Faxel 1: ?
Skate Doc: If the boot is still loose, they have to go back again to Harlick
probably. You might try a
Skate Doc: heel lift to snug the heel up. As far as the tongue twisting goes,
glue a strip of the hook
Skate Doc: half of velcro on the center of the tongue. The laces will hold
the tongue in place. /end
AMYL2: Back again. I wasn't being rude. I couldn't get anything to go
through! Sorry
Greg R TMH: ?
SRisch: Hi. Did anyone have some problems getting in here tonite?
AMYL2: Big time troubles
Linda8894: I don't understand the velcro suggstion?
AMYL2: Mike, can I ask a question?
Guppie94: ?
Skate Doc: Do you know that velcro has two sides, Linda? A hook side and a
fuzzy side.
Linda8894: Yes.
Skate Doc: You can buy velcro with a peel and stick backing on it. Use a
strip about two inches long
CBARA314: I think they call the fuzzy side the loop side.
AMYL2: What blades are good for both Moves in the field and Dance
Skate Doc: right up the center of the tongue. The laces will attach
themselves to the little hooks and
Skate Doc: and keep the tongue from moving.
Skate Doc: /end
MargeR1: next is dreamskate go ahead
SRisch: ?
AMYL2: ?
Skate Doc: Use SHARP blades for Moves & dance
Linda8894: Thanks.
DreamSkate: Could you give a price range for the beginner skates that you
mentioned?
DreamSkate: What to expect?
Skate Doc: Reidell 320s are $190, Single Star blades are $95 roughly,
SilverStars are $230
DreamSkate: Thank you.
MargeR1: go ahead Monica
Faxel 1: I'm considering buying new blades. (I have Professionals now) I'm
doing single jumps and learning the
Faxel 1: axel, hopefully double sal. Any suggestions?
Faxel 1: I like jumping better than spinning, but probably need help with
spinning because of it.
Skate Doc: The next logical blade would be the Vantage or Phantom by MK.
However, there's nothing wrong
Skate Doc: with the Pros you have now.
Faxel 1: What's the difference between Vantage and Phantom?
Skate Doc: The Phantoms are side honed and tapered - that means they're hard
to sharpen.
Faxel 1: Not for me, in that case. Thanks.
AMYL2: ?
MargeR1: greg go ahead
Greg R TMH: What is the best cleaning material for boots i just bought some
new Silver Stars today and I
Greg R TMH: would like to try to keep them nice.
Skate Doc: Men's boots - just a little old black boot polish will do just
fine.
Skate Doc: /end
Greg R TMH: Thank you so much
OnlineHost: AMYL2 has entered the room.
MargeR1: Amy go ahead
AMYL2: I am having a continual problem with my right ankle bone, I have had
it punched out,
AMYL2: I am lacing them differently and I am using a cosmetic pad with a hole
in the middle,
Guppie94: elizabeth is fine
AMYL2: any other idea? it still hurts
Skate Doc: Inside or outside ankle?
AMYL2: Inside
Skate Doc: Are you sure it's not the edge of the tongue hitting your ankle?
AMYL2: Yep
Skate Doc: What kind of boots?
AMYL2: silver star
AMYL2: I also had this problem with my old boots
Skate Doc: Thinking....
AMYL2: ok
Skate Doc: About all you can do really is punch them out some more - try a
second layer of blister pads
Skate Doc: It's kind of hard to make a diagnosis without seeing the feet and
the boots - could be blade
Skate Doc: position, or something else
Faxel 1: ?
AMYL2: Thank you very much! I hope it gets better
AMYL2: T he blade position is good.
Skate Doc: Try punching them out some more
OnlineHost: LeighLewis has left the room.
DreamSkate: ?
AMYL2: Ok, Where its been punched is visable already, is that ok?
Skate Doc: Oh YES
AMYL2: what I mean is you can see this giant pocket on the outside of the
boot
Skate Doc: that's fine
AMYL2: Thanks!!
MargeR1: end?
Skate Doc: You're welcome
MargeR1: Elizabeth go ahead
Guppie94: thank you. i was wondering if anyone knows were i can get a good
lace tightner
Skate Doc: I don't hire out...:)
Skate Doc: But seriously......
Guppie94: what
Skate Doc: any skate shop including ours - I'll sell you one if you'd like -
about $4
Skate Doc: EMail me for particulars
Guppie94: oh thank you.
Guppie94: where do i EMail you
Skate Doc: Send email to SkateDoc
OnlineHost: Dd124 has entered the room.
OnlineHost: TripleAxel has entered the room.
MargeR1: Danielle, go ahead
SRisch: Thanks. Afew years ago I got stock Harlicks and had a heckuva time
breaking them in and
SRisch: eventually developed a tumor on my achilles tendon. Two operations
later I got customs that
Dd124: does any body know
SRisch: are great. I was wondering if there is any other way to break in
these old boots, aside
Guppie94: did they take th tumor out SRisch
SRisch: from walking around or as my coach said soaking socks in vodka
(?!?!?!?)
Skate Doc: Welcome to the FIGURE SKATING FORUM
SRisch: Yes, twice (the doc didn't get all of it the first time).
Skate Doc: If the old boots gave you that much trouble, I'd sell them and
stick with the customs.
Skate Doc: If you need a second pair of boots, get another pair of customs.
Skate Doc: /end
SRisch: thanks!
SRisch: goodnite
TripleAxel: Skate Doc, do they custom make boots for a size 9 EEE (men's)?
MargeR1: AMY go ahead
AMYL2: What is the difference between dance and freestyle blades? What test
level in dance is it
AMYL2: advisable to switch to dance blades
Skate Doc: They make custom boots in any size you need
TripleAxel: Danke
OnlineHost: TripleAxel has left the room.
Skate Doc: The back of the blade in dance blades is shorter. The blades also
may be narrower than a
Skate Doc: standard blade. Silver or Pre-Gold test levels is about when you
need dance blades.
AMYL2: Thanks , that means I have A LONG, LONG time!!
MoHair29: Where is everyone?
Skate Doc: Welcome to the FIGURE SKATING FORUM
MargeR1: Monica, go ahead
Faxel 1: Every now and then when I spin my arches start hurting really bad.
My left boot fits just fine, so
Faxel 1: that's not it. Any ideas?
Skate Doc: Do you curl your toes up in your boots?
Faxel 1: Possibly, though I'm not aware of it.
MargeR1: ?
Skate Doc: Have your skate shop put a piece of insole material in the front
half of your boot and see
Skate Doc: if that helps. /end
Faxel 1: I'll try. Thanks again.
MargeR1: Go ahead Angie
DreamSkate: What is a "shim" in one's blade? I've heard a skater mention
that. And how much more are
DreamSkate: custom boots than regular?
Skate Doc: A shim is a thin piece of plastic or insole material placed under
one side of the blade
Skate Doc: plate. It changes the angle of the blade to the bottom of the
boot.
Skate Doc: Custom boots start at about $150 more than top end stock boots.
DreamSkate: I see.
DreamSkate: Thank you! :)
MargeR1: Amy go ahead
AMYL2: I think I am all caught up for now Marge
MargeR1: I am the last questionmark submitted so please think of some more
questions and I'll call on
MargeR1: myself next
MargeR1: Mike, when we are getting skates sharpened what factors should the
sharpener be taking into
Faxel 1: ? (But feel free to go ahead of me Marge . . . )
MargeR1: consideration?
AMYL2: Mike, can you tell us how you recommend skates are stored when not in
use?
AMYL2: Sorry, I hit 'send' by mistake
Greg R TMH: great question
Skate Doc: What are you doing in the way of skating? What level skater are
you? Patch, freestyle or
Skate Doc: dance?
Skate Doc: The main things that the sharpener has to do is to maintain the
shape of the blade and get
Skate Doc: the edges level.
Skate Doc: /end
MargeR1: daughter is freestyle 5 and also dance
Skate Doc: Depending on your ice hardness, probably 7/16th's to a half inch
hollow (that's radius)
MargeR1: is ice surface type a factor in sharpening?
Skate Doc: Not the type - the hardness. Harder ice requires a deeper hollow
for each different disc.
MargeR1: by type I meant hard ice vs. soft ice
Skate Doc: /end
MargeR1: Monica go ahead
Faxel 1: I'm curious whether most world-class skaters prefer really stiff
boots or softer ones. I've talked to
Faxel 1: some of each, so I was curious about general preferences.
DreamSkate: ?
Skate Doc: Skates should be stored with blade covers on. NEVER store your
skates with guards on.
DreamSkate: Good question, Monica.
AMYL2: Thanks
Skate Doc: Skaters in general don't like breaking in new boots - particularly
coaches and show skaters.
Skate Doc: /end
MargeR1: Angie, go ahead
DreamSkate: Is a big difference really felt when a skater's blade is "off",
as Kat's was recently, and
DreamSkate: as Scott Hamilton mentioned during commentary?
DreamSkate: She seemed to be having a hard time and he said her blade was
off.
DreamSkate: Does it really make a big difference in your performance, and
why?
Skate Doc: It is my understanding that the soles of her boots had gotten so
waterlogged that they had
Skate Doc: to be replaced./end
OnlineHost: Wcr 28 has entered the room.
MargeR1: Please submitt any questions you have with a ? as we are now caught
up on questions
DreamSkate: I see. From her feet sweating?
MargeR1: ?
Skate Doc: Yes - if you don't have blades on your boots......
Sita895661: Welcome to the Figure Skating Forum
Skate Doc: Not from foot sweat - from melting ice that coats the bottom of
your boot
DreamSkate: Oh! THank you.
Faxel 1: ?
MargeR1: Marge go ahead
DreamSkate: Your turn, Marge.
MargeR1: Mike, if both blades and boots are new at the same time is there any
special breakin procedu
MargeR1: res you follow for mounting the blades?
Skate Doc: I always test mount blades in the slotted holes and have you skate
on them five or six
Skate Doc: hours. Then we make adjustments to blade position if necessary
before we set the blades.
Skate Doc: /end
DreamSkate: ?
MargeR1: Monica go ahead
Faxel 1: You mentioned a shim. What type of problems does one correct with a
shim?
Skate Doc: It's primarily getting the sole and the heel on the same plane.
Faxel 1: So it wouldn't help with other problems, like pronation or anything
like that?
Skate Doc: It's kind of hard to explain.
Skate Doc: It COULD help with pronation but most of the time a pronation
problem is better corrected
Skate Doc: with orthotics and blade placement laterally.
Faxel 1: Laterally? You mean at an angle or just moving it in, which I did?
Skate Doc: Just moving it in
Faxel 1: It didn't help much. My foot tends to rotate to the outside.
Skate Doc: Move the blade in the direction your foot rolls
OnlineHost: AMYL2 has left the room.
Faxel 1: I guess I'll have to keep playing with it. Do you suggest I should
consider a shim at all? Thanks.
Skate Doc: Again without seeing it- it's kind of hard to make firm recs
Faxel 1: Right. Thanks./end
MargeR1: Angie, go ahead (and that is our last ? at the moment)
Skate Doc: Sita hasn't asked anything
Sita895661: Hi Mike :-)
DreamSkate: Back to the water-logged question...can boots be water-proofed so
that one doesn't have to
DreamSkate: replace them often, which would get quite expensive?
Skate Doc: We use Sno-Seal in our shops. We heat the bottom of the boot with
a heat gun and melt the
Skate Doc: Sno-Seal in. It's the best solution we've come up with.
DreamSkate: Sounds good. THank you.
MargeR1: My freestyle5 daughter wears Rissport Diamant Super for the wider
toe area, we were told her
LesleighA: I have a question :)!
MargeR1: boot should be a custom, which boots should I look at for the best
fit for her style of feet
Skate Doc: Probably Sp-Teris although in a custom boot it shouldn't make a
lot of difference as far as
Skate Doc: toe box shape goes.
Skate Doc: /end
MargeR1: thanks, I'll ask about those I wish you lived closer.....
MargeR1: LesleighA, go ahead
LesleighA: I was wondering if it was possible that I might be having trouble
with spread eagles on outside edges
LesleighA: because of the way my blades are mounted. . .is that possible?
OnlineHost: TripleLutz has entered the room.
Sita895661: Welcome to Figure Skating Forum
TripleLutz: Hello
Skate Doc: It's possible - it's not likely, but it's possible.
TripleLutz: What's possible?
LesleighA: Also, where I had my skates done, silicon was used to keep water
out from under the blade and then the
Skate Doc: Generally, if you can skate on a flat in a straight line, your
blade position should be okay
Sita895661: Welcome to the FIgure Skating Forum
LesleighA: bottomes are varnished. . .it is very effective. My boots show NO
rotting in 5 years!
Skate Doc: That's very good.
Sita895661: Welcome to the Figure Skating Forum
LesleighA: Do you mean skate in a straight line in a spread eagle position on
a flat?
Skate Doc: No - just skate in a straight line on a flat.
LesleighA: O.K Thanks Doc!
LesleighA: Could I ask one more question?
Skate Doc: Sure
LesleighA: How long can you use blades? I am skating on a pair of gold seals
that have no more tempered steel
LesleighA: left, but seem fine. . .? Am I in any danger or how much longer
can they go?
Skate Doc: When you get into the soft steel, they just won't hold an edge for
very long but you're not
Skate Doc: in any danger./end
MargeR1: We are now finished with ? submitted, last call for ? or should we
just open the forum to
MargeR1: general skating discussion?
DreamSkate: ?
LesleighA: One more from me?
MargeR1: go ahead angie
DreamSkate: I have a question regarding Paul's skates as of recently.
DreamSkate: He mentioned having a shim in his blade at Ice Wars, do you know
why he had it? He was
DreamSkate: having such problems that night....
Skate Doc: I haven't done Paul's skates since last year. Sorry.
DreamSkate: Thank you anyway. :)
MargeR1: go ahead LesleighA
Sita895661: Welcome to the Figure Skating Forum
LesleighA: Yeah, I was wondering if the skate doc knew what kind of boots and
blades Kurt Browning uses?
TripleLutz: ?
Skate Doc: 1988 WIFA boots.......I didn't pay that much attention to the
blades.
LesleighA: patten 99? gold Seal? no idea?
Skate Doc: Pattern 99's maybe
LesleighA: Thanks doc!
MargeR1: Go ahead, Joanna
TripleLutz: What kind of boots and blades does Nancy Kerrigan use?
OnlineHost: Faxel 1 has left the room.
Skate Doc: Nancy uses custom Harlicks and Pattern 99s
TripleLutz: Thanks Doc!
LesleighA: I think Sita want to have the forum! :)
Sita895661: Someone mention my name?
MargeR1: that seems to be the end of the ?'s...... shall we go to open
discussion?
Sita895661: Sorry Marge
LesleighA: I am happy to discuss!
TripleLutz: Me also, lets discuss
Skate Doc: WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES!
MargeR1: did you want to ask a question? Thanks for your help in greeting
new arrivals
MargeR1: sita
TripleLutz: I am so happy for Michael Weiss!
Sita895661: No Marge, I'm fine..
Sita895661: Lesleigh just mentioned my name...
Sita895661: BTW, great forum..thanks Skate Doc
Sita895661: and thanks to Marge for moderating
Skate Doc: You're welcome - my pleaseure - had a good time
DreamSkate: Thank you for coming, Mike. Come back sometime.
Skate Doc: Thanks for all of the good questions
MargeR1: Thanks so much for doing this forum, Mike....
Skate Doc: Missed the im from whoever sent it....
DreamSkate: It's been fun.
LesleighA: Thanks Marge! Thanks Skate doc!
MargeR1: Mike, Is Julie doing your typing tonight? You seemed very quick on
the responses :)
Skate Doc: big hand for julie
Sita895661: Go Julie..
DreamSkate: Hi Julie!!
Sita895661: Welcome to the Figure Skating Forum
Skate Doc: hello everyone (this is Julie)
DreamSkate: Didn't know you were there. :)
MargeR1: My copy of the "Sourcebook" comes in tomorrow, but I heard you are
quoted in this book
MargeR1: How did that come about?
LesleighA: How long has the World University Games been around as an event.
In my skating days I do not recallit
Skate Doc: I've helped Alice write three different articles since Skater's
Edge has been in existence
Skate Doc: /end
TripleLutz: Didn't Nancy Kerrigan win a bronze medal at the World Univ. Games
a couple years ago?
LesleighA: Since it is sandwiched between Nationals and Worlds, who goes to
it?
TripleLutz: Michael Weiss went to it, and won.
LesleighA: Well, I figure that the folks busy getting ready for worlds would
not go. . .so I get why Weiss
LesleighA: went.
TripleLutz: Who was this Chinese man that did two quads in his long program?
LesleighA: Don't know. What quads did he do? Both toe loops?
Skate Doc: He did one quad - fell on the other - Min Zhang
LesleighA: Salchow or toe-loop?
TripleLutz: I've never heard of him, is he consistant?
DreamSkate: Well, I'm going. It's been fun! Wish I could be here next week.
What's the topic going to be
DreamSkate: Marge?
MargeR1: skaters age 18-28 who are in college were the athletes selected to
go.....
Sita895661: Welcome to the Figure Skating Forum
Sita895661: Then why is Tonia and Kathleen kelly qualified?
LesleighA: oh. . so it is an event for students who skate?
TripleLutz: How did Tonia Kwiatkowski perform? I know she won the silver,
did she land her triple flip?
MargeR1: I am checking with Julie about forum for next week
Perro Malo: How come there is no one in any of the sports rooms?
Sita895661: This is the Skating forum
LesleighA: If Tonya K. got silver , who won?
Skate Doc: Tonia Kwaitkowski WON teh World University Games - gold medal.
VDreamSkate: Thanks, Marge. See you all later. :)
LesleighA: good for her! That is neat.
TripleLutz: In the results, it says she was the silver medalist.
VFernan901: bye bye
DreamSkate: Bye.
Skate Doc: The results are wrong.
LesleighA: Where are you getting these results from?
Skate Doc: USOC says she won.
TripleLutz: I'm glad she won, she's getting older and I don't see anymore
National medals in her
TripleLutz: future
MargeR1: Past college attendance was also considered a option as long as age
requirements were met
LesleighA: me neither. Weiss, however has a future.
OnlineHost: DreamSkate has left the room.
TripleLutz: Weiss will be a future National champion, and maybe even World
champion
Skate Doc: Michael has a future in skydiving.
TripleLutz: How is Elvis Stojko? I heard he will be at Worlds and that he is
skating well.
LesleighA: Weiss has got good jumpb heigh but! he two foots his quad-I was
not that impressed
Skate Doc: He's turning skydiving pro next week.
MargeR1: I think the person was looking at the short program results not the
final results Tonia did
MargeR1: come in 2nd in short and won gold overall
LesleighA: you are kidding, right?
Skate Doc: You ought to see me do my quad!
TripleLutz: Oh, thanks. I'm glad Tonia won.
Skate Doc: I use all FOUR feet.
OnlineHost: Guppie94 has entered the room.
LesleighA: just come on over to my rink! I'll critique :-)!
TripleLutz: I hope Elvis wins Worlds this year.
Sita895661: In the words of Kurt Browning "You can shoot Elvis in the head
and he'll still skate"
Skate Doc: The bungee jumping got old so Michael is concentrating on
skydiving.
LesleighA: I really liked Weiss's triple flip-one of the best I have ever
seen.
TripleLutz: Great! I just hope Elvis can hit his quadruple salchow & toe
loop
LesleighA: Does he really do this kind of stuff? He seems really young! ( I
watched him at Nationals)
Sita895661: I doubt that Elvis will try the quads..
LesleighA: really sita? why?
Skate Doc: You should have been here for his forum - he told everybody ALL
about it!
TripleLutz: I heard Elvis's new program is very dramatic, to the theme from
"1492: Conquest of Paradise"
Sita895661: just a guess..
LesleighA: so. . .Is Michael a little bit on HIMself??
Skate Doc: He's a very artistic skydiver - you should see him in action!
Sita895661: then again, it's Elvis..
LesleighA: Skate doc you have got me chuckling :)!
Skate Doc: He's a very down to earth fellow. Particularly after the chute
opens.....
Sita895661: I didn't like the 1492 program that much
LesleighA: HA!!!
Sita895661: His short program is much better!
TripleLutz: I don't think we'll be seeing Philippe Candeloro on the medal
stand at Worlds.
Skate Doc: Elvis doesn't skydive......
OnlineHost: Manashtash has entered the room.
LesleighA: He was getting so much attention at Nationals that it will be a
feat to keep his head together!
Skate Doc: Neither does Philippe.....
TripleLutz: What is Elvis's new short like? I liked his old one, I thought
it was new and inovative
Sita895661: Welcome to the Skating Forum
LesleighA: AND then He skated a messy technical program-if he is going to be
national/world champ he needs to
Skate Doc: How could his old one be new?
Sita895661: Elvis' short program is set to "Total recall"
LesleighA: skate clean short programs!
TripleLutz: Re-read it, that's not what I said.
Sita895661: Futuristic theme..great footwork
Skate Doc: I think Michael should concentrate solely on skydiving and forget
the skating - more $ in
Skate Doc: airshows and movie stuntwork
Sita895661: Is this Julie talking?
LesleighA: Skate doc, I suspect that is exactly what will happen!
TripleLutz: I read somewhere that he has been skating his short flawlessly
LesleighA: *not* at Nationals.
TripleLutz: I'm talking about Elvis Stojko
Sita895661: Well, in Skate Canada it was flawless (re Elvis)
LesleighA: oh, sorry :)
TripleLutz: It's okay!
LesleighA: Why don't you guys think Phillip will be in there?
Rlerblder: Hello, may I come in?
TripleLutz: He performed so badly at Europeans, and there is his history of
inconsistancy
TripleLutz: He finished 4th at Europeans, and I think he choked in several
international competitions
Sita895661: I'm not doing any guessing about Worlds
LesleighA: hmmm. . .maybe so, but he is riding a wave I would not count him
out so soon
Skate Doc: I didn't know he liked to surf
LesleighA: Is Elvis healthy?
TripleLutz: Maybe not, if he skates like he did at the '94 Worlds, he will
win a medal
TripleLutz: They say Elvis is skating well
LesleighA: Well if so, he will win it. . .he would have to skate badly to
loose and he never does. . does he?
Sita895661: He bombed in the short in Prague
Skate Doc: yes he does - 92 Canadians won by Michael Slipchuk - NOT Elvis
Sita895661: Now I'm sure that's Julie :-)
LesleighA: Oh, yeah. . .does he ever fall?
MargeR1: Me too<G>
TripleLutz: But he did win the silver medal in Prague.
Sita895661: His '94 Nationals long program wasn't that clean
TripleLutz: I thought Kurt won the '92 Canadian Nationals
Skate Doc: I bet Michael Slipchuk skydives
TripleLutz: But it was in Lillehammer and Japan
LesleighA: But I have to say, I do not think I have ever seen Elvis actually
*fall* does he ever?
Sita895661: Well, Lesleigh asked if Elvis ever skated bad, and fell
TripleLutz: I've never seen him fall
Sita895661: Piruetten '93 - fall on the last flip
Sita895661: then there's the stumbles on the quad attempts
LesleighA: wow. Then kings can fall. . .his consistency is really amazing. .
.he deserves medals for that alone
TripleLutz: This year his triple flip looks wonderful
TripleLutz: He doesn't really need the quads, the other men have them, but
can't hit them.
TripleLutz: Urmanov has a quadruple toe loop, but can't ever land it. What
other men have quads?
LesleighA: I do not really *love* Elvis's skating. . but he gets my vote for
the most intense competitor I have
LesleighA: ever seen in re skating
Sita895661: Petr Barna had one..
TripleLutz: I absolutely love Elvis's skating, he is one of the best male
figure skaters ever
Skate Doc: Michael Weiss has a quad - toe loop and lutz.
TripleLutz: Oh yeah, he hit his quad toe loop in Albertville didn't he?
LesleighA: lutz? I didn't see him try one at Nationals
Sita895661: I've heard that Elvis has been trying out quad lutzes too
Skate Doc: It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Tara Lipinski has a quad this
year.
MargeR1: Mike Weiss did land his quad toe loop in warmup at University Games
LesleighA: skate doc!!!
TripleLutz: She is amazing, so young and yet loaded with triple jumps.
Skate Doc: He did attempt a few in practice at the beginning of the week -
lutzes that is
LesleighA: toooo young!!!
TripleLutz: How do you think the U.S. will fair at Worlds?
LesleighA: oh, I must have missed them. I did catch Shephard Clark's
T.lutz/t.LOOP combo though, I was impressed
